Dry Needling Therapy
Dry needling is a highly effective therapy used to reduce muscle pain, improve mobility, and restore proper movement. It works by inserting a thin, sterile filament needle into trigger points to release tension, decrease inflammation, and promote natural healing.
When the needle stimulates these trigger points, it improves blood flow, reduces muscle spasms, and resets dysfunctional movement patterns, allowing the body to move with less pain and more freedom.
Dry needling is backed by research and is especially useful for conditions caused by overuse, irritation, or muscle tension.
How Dry Needling Helps the Body
Dry needling can provide relief by:
Releasing tight and overworked muscles
Reducing chronic pain and inflammation
Improving circulation and speeding up recovery
Decreasing nerve irritation
Restoring normal muscle activation
Increasing flexibility and range of motion
Calming deep muscle spasms and trigger points
Supporting better posture and movement mechanics
Conditions We Treat With Dry Needling
Dry needling can help with a wide range of musculoskeletal issues, including:
TMJ pain / jaw tension
Sciatica and lower back pain
Hip pain and glute tightness
Shoulder pain and rotator cuff tension
Neck pain and decreased neck range of motion
Thoracic tightness / upper back stiffness
Knee pain and IT band syndrome
Toe pain, foot pain, and plantar fascia tightness
Elbow pain (tennis elbow / golfer’s elbow)
Chronic muscle stiffness and mobility limitations
Post-workout tightness and delayed recovery
Headaches caused by neck tension
Postural strain from long hours of sitting
Dry needling is often paired with chiropractic adjustments, cupping, or manual therapy to help the results last longer and support full-body movement.
What to Expect During Your Dry Needling Session
Your session is personalized to your condition and comfort level. Here’s what typically happens:
Assessment: We evaluate the painful or tight area and identify the specific muscles causing the issue.
Needling: A very thin needle is placed into the trigger point to release the muscle. You may feel a quick twitch or deep ache—that’s normal and a good sign the muscle is responding.
Relief: Muscles typically relax immediately, resulting in improved mobility and decreased pain.
Movement: We may follow the needling with stretching, mobility work, or an adjustment to help stabilize the results.
Most sessions take 10–20 minutes depending on how many areas we treat.
After-Care & What You May Feel
After dry needling, it’s normal to experience:
Mild soreness for 12–24 hours
Light fatigue or a “worked out” feeling
Immediate decrease in tightness or stiffness
Increased range of motion
Relief in areas that previously felt restricted
Recommended after-care:
Drink plenty of water
Gentle stretching or light movement
Apply heat if you feel sore
Avoid heavy lifting for the rest of the day if multiple areas were treated
Continue prescribed exercises or mobility work
Most patients feel significant relief within 1–3 sessions, depending on the severity of their condition.
