Graston/ IASTM Therapy
Graston and IASTM (Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization) use specialized stainless-steel tools to break down scar tissue, release adhesions, and improve soft-tissue mobility.
This therapy targets dysfunctional areas created by injury, overuse, or poor movement patterns. IASTM stimulates a healing response by increasing blood flow and reducing restrictions in the muscles and fascia.
Benefits include:
Breaking up scar tissue and chronic adhesions
Improving range of motion
Reducing tendon and ligament pain
Stimulating tissue repair
Supporting proper muscle activation
Improving biomechanics and movement patterns
Decreasing chronic tightness
Reducing nerve entrapment symptoms
Conditions Graston/IASTM Can Treat
Graston and IASTM help address:
Plantar fasciitis & foot pain
Lower back pain & stiffness
Neck pain & decreased ROM
Sciatica & nerve-related tightness
TMJ / jaw muscle tension
Hip pain & IT band tightness
Shoulder pain & rotator cuff dysfunction
Tendonitis (Achilles, patellar, biceps, etc.)
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Golfer’s elbow & tennis elbow
Post-surgical scar tissue
Chronic muscle knots
Ankle sprains & calf tightness
Restricted mobility from old injuries
What to Expect During an IASTM Session
During treatment, a chiropractor uses metal tools to gently glide across the skin, identifying and treating areas of restriction. You may feel mild pressure or scraping sensations as adhesions break up.
Sessions typically last 5–10 minutes and are often paired with chiropractic adjustments, stretching, or corrective exercises.
After-Care Instructions
After IASTM, you may experience:
Mild redness
Temporary soreness
Light warmth in the treated area
Post-treatment care includes:
Hydration
Gentle stretching
Avoiding intense workouts for 12–24 hours
Applying cold packs if needed
These effects are temporary and normal responses as the tissue begins to loosen and heal.
